The
BrazenHead Inn is located on US 219 in the old community of Mingo, in
the high mountains of southern Randolph County, West Virginia. Guests
park off-road in front of the inn, or off to its south side. Access to
rooms as well as the restaurant and pub is from surrounding covered
porches, which are wheelchair accessible.
Guest Rooms
On
the ground floor, the
BrazenHead offers eight rooms suitable for double occupancy. Two of
these rooms are wheelchair accessible. Six have queen beds, two have
regular beds.
Guests access the second floor by outside
stairways at each end of the inn,
and at the riverside center of the inn near the dining room. The six
rooms in each upstairs wing (Upstairs South or Upstairs North) have
cathedral ceilings.
Ten upstairs rooms are furnished with queen beds and sleeping lofts with
full size mattresses, comfortably accommodating up to four guests. Two
upstairs rooms are furnished with twin beds and lofts.
We also invite you to view our floor plan, if that will help you choose from among the rooms available at the time of your visit.
The Restaurant
A
variety of seatings are
available, from tables for two to banquet tables. Babsheen’s
Bite can
accommodate up to 34 guests in the dining room.
Innkeeper
Will Fanning is usually on hand to greet BrazenHead dinner guests.
Sixteen
additional guests can be seated in the pub, and 20 additional guests
can be seated on the back porch when weather permits.
Mike's Pub
The
BrazenHead's pub is directly connected to the
dining room, and in fact, we sometimes seat dining guests there. There
are five tables seating four guests, and eight stools at the bar, to
accommodate a total of 28.
Beers
on tap include Guinness Stout, Bass Ale, and Killians Irish Red, as
well as the Budweiser line of American beers, and other favorite
imports.
The Porches
When
he built the inn, Will Fanning planned plenty of space for relaxation.
The inn is surrounded by 4,000 square feet of covered porches and
decks, furnished with swings, deep Adirondack chairs, and a hammock.
BrazenHead Bears ™
Long
before West Virginia’s Potomac Highlands were famous for snow
skiing, mountain biking, and scenic touring, they were renowned among
hunters for wily brown bears. The BrazenHead offers chain sawed,
hand-finished bears ranging in personality and size that you would
welcome on your porch, created by the Fannings from their own woodpile.
