Friends of The BrazenHead Fix-up, Clean-up Weekend
We're inviting our friends to join us on the last weekend in April as we chase Old Man Winter out of here and tidy up the mess he left behind.
Come on up and hang out in the mountains with us. There will be flowers and maybe even some vegetables to plant. This isn't a barn raising or anything heavy duty like that. We're just putting our house in order after a long winter, and having a picnic to celebrate our bounty of friendship. The requirements on your part are few:
- You must consider yourself a friend of the BrazenHead. Unfriendlies need not apply.
- You must be available to work with us this weekend.
- A smile and a helpful attitude are always appreciated.
- Call for details: (Toll-free) 866-339-6917 or (Local) 304-339-6917.

The 9th Annual BrazenHead Folk Weekend
This is a
(very) full weekend of free-flowing eclectic traditional song, from
country-western to English ballads and more, as much fun to listen as
to participate.
It's an informal gathering of kindred musical
spirits, so there's no cost unless you need lodging and food, which
we're happy to provide. This event is attracting more people as word
gets around, so contact Innkeeper Will Fanning
soon to make your reservations and to make arrangements with the
weekend coordinator ... unless you're one of our local friends, in
which case — come on over!
Early arrivals may burst into song at
dinner, if not sooner, often ending well after midnight. The music will
continue Saturday afternoon and evening, and a traditional gospel sing
usually kicks off sometime before lunch on Sunday before easing back
into other traditional songs. There's front porch singing, too, if
weather permits. That's about all the structure we can predict, though
we anticipate a lot of fun and the company of some fine folks (and fine
folksingers).

Music in the great outdoors
This was the beginning of our "Music in the Mountains" series of outdoor concerts. Our music pavilion, an ongoing work in progress
and labor of love, was the scene of a delightful frenzy of good music,
good food and good friends at the end of May 2008.
Much of the music, featuring The Hillbilly Gypsies
and The Fox
Hunt, was recorded by John "Mudcat" Peters of CornerStone Recording in Craigsville, West Virginia. We hope to make this a regular
practice because there's something special about any live performance
of music.
If you missed it, or if you want to
refresh your memory, you can check out some of the songs on YouTube by
following the links below!
The Hillbilly Gypsies: Dear
Ol' Dixie
The Fox Hunt: Cherokee
Shuffle/Lost Indian
You'll also find some pretty good music in our pub
almost any weekend, any time of year. Check our music calendar for details.
